
SPRING 2025 FILM PROGRAMME
Welcome to Ditcheat Big Screen’s Spring 2025 programme for the enjoyment of our fellow Ditcheat villagers and all who live in the surrounding villages and towns. Film showings commence at Ditcheat’s Jubilee Hall at 7.30pm but our doors open at 6.30pm so don’t miss the chance to meet up with friends for a drink and a snack in our newly refurbished, very cosy and welcoming snug bar.
Another recent upgrade to our facilities is a new, enchanced sound system offering better sound quality for all our fellow film lovers.

Set in 1930s London, The Critic is a gem of a period drama revolving around a much feared theatre critic (played triumphantly by Ian McKellen), a newspaper man who wants to get rid of him (played by Mark Strong) and an actress (played by Gemma Arterton) who has been devastated by his many excoriating reviews. The Critic’s absolute determination to survive all their efforts to be rid of him gives us movie lovers a fantastic web of blackmail, deceit and murder to enjoy!

Cardinal Lawrence, played by a very impressive Ralph Fiennes, is tasked with running the papal election after the unexpected death of a beloved pope. However, after the Church’s most powerful leaders gather to help elect a new pope, the Cardinal discovers a trail of corruption and deciept that could shake the very foundations of the Catholic Church itself. Based on Robert Harris’s 2016 bestselling novel, Conclave has a stunning twist at its heart and a fabulously talented ensemble cast including Isabella Rossellini, John Lithgow and Stanley Tucci. Oscar and Bafta nominations are rumoured at time of writing.

The much-anticipated Ridley Scott directed follow-on to Gladiator and already being whispered about for a possible 2025 Oscar nomination at time of writing. Two despotic twin emperors now rule Rome so after his North African home is conquered by the Romans, hot young actor Paul Mescal’s character, Lucius (nephew of the iconic Russel Crowe’s Maximus), must enter the Colosseum and look to his past for the strength to return the glory of Rome to its people. The Gladiator 2 cast also includes a scene-stealingly brilliant Denzel Washington and Connie Nielsen, Pedro Pascal, Derek Jacobi, Tim McInnerny and Lior Raz.
